The Ameerah Muhammad Memorial Library is the first public library in Connecticut specializing in Children's Islamic books. Named in honor of Ameerah Muhammad, a pioneer in youth development and education, the library stands as a tribute to her legacy and commitment to nurturing young minds. With a diverse collection of Islamic and secular books for both children and adults, the library offers two reading and play areas for children, as well as a multipurpose meeting room for gatherings and book circles.
This fundraiser was created to cover the library's operating costs for the 2025/2026 year, including rent, utilities, and program supplies. The library is run entirely by dedicated community volunteers and does not pay staff, ensuring that every dollar goes directly to keeping the doors open and programs running. Open Monday through Friday, the library welcomes visitors to check out and borrow books, and has already built a community of 40 patrons who visit regularly. The library has hosted Halaqahs and a November Reading Challenge to inspire young people to read more and connect with their faith through knowledge.
Keeping the library open is not just a Sadaqah Jarayiah for Ameerah Muhammad, but also a way to leave a lasting legacy of literacy and education for future generations. By providing wholesome, Islamic-valued content, the library is a safe and special place for children to meet, learn, and play together. We hope this seed fund will be the beginning of many contributions to expand the library and keep momentum going. Your support will help sustain a vital resource for the community, established in the spirit of giving and care.
