UPDATE AUGUST 2025:
After recently losing my job from being diagnosed as permanently disabled I have been applying for disability benefits. As I am still waiting for Service Quebec to make a decision, I have been diagnosed with HIV and urgently need to buy medication. This, combined with struggling to pay rent & groceries as I await a benefits payout, has left me in a difficult financial position. Thank you for your ongoing support.

Hi, friends and fam. For those who don't know my name is Amethyst. Just over a year ago I began medically transitioning, and as is often the case it really turned my life upside down. I realised quickly how much of my life was defined by unhealthy coping mechanisms and I chose to move from Germany to Montreal in hopes of being able to start fresh and recreate myself.
I'm happy to say I've been beginning to build a good life here. But financial challenges have been weighing on me, and I'm struggling to find ways to get out of the cycle of poverty.
I'm currently working, but hours and pay arent enough to cover expenses, and being both trans and physically disabled has made it very difficult to secure other forms of income. Currently, I'm in debt to multiple friends, living off the food bank, and unsure how I'll keep rent covered through the winter.
I maybe should've put out a request for community support months ago to protect myself from this debt and poverty, but had to work through a lot of feelings of shame to get here. But here I am now! So let me lay out what I'm asking for help to accomplish:
First 250 will pay off debt
Next 750 will secure the next couple months of rent
Next 500 will be used to get myself household necessities (bed sheets, towels, soap, wall paint, etc.)
I'm hoping to set aside 500 for support with my disability: a few sessions with a physiotherapist and a personal trainer will relieve a lot of the pain I'm in, and hopefully set me up to do training at home and be able to work normal jobs again.
And I would like to put 1000 towards my transition costs: hormones, laser hair removal, vocal training, makeup, bras, this life is EXPENSIVE and I currently have no hope of doing these essential things for many years on my own.
Thank you so much for your attention, and please know every contribution and share means the world to me. Being a t-girl, it feels like I've been programmed to believe I don't deserve care: hoping this step will also help turn that around.
Xx
