My friend Amber Rocha was affected by Hurricane Milton this past week in Dade City. During the storm a large oak tree fell on her house and when she went to check on the damage another large oak tree fell down on her crushing her underneath. Her left arm was shattered in multiple places as well as leaving a nasty gash on her head. Amber was taken to Lakeland Regional to have surgery to rebuild her arm requiring several plates and screws to put her arm back together they also had to staple/suture her head wound with several staples and stitches.
Thankfully Amber is out of surgery and on her way home from a hospital to a friend's house since her home isn't livable at the moment. Amber lives on a farm with her wife Stacy that houses thirteen horses, five cows, three goats and chickens and ducks. Their house has 13+ trees down, one on top of the house, there is no power, no water, and the river near her house is rising and encroaching their house. Amber is a bartender without insurance who is now unable to work due to her condition and will have a long road ahead to get better. Amber goes above and beyond to make sure people are taken care of and I think it's our time to come together as a community to help her in this time of need with her long road ahead.
