Support Amber's Journey to Recovery

Hey y'all my name is Adelle. My sister Amber is healing from a spinal cord injury and is in need of help.

Amber entered the emergency room on 4/25 due to severe numbness and tinging in her legs. After an MRI of her low back it was originally determined to be swelling that was pinching the nerves in her spine and she was sent home with meds to heal. 4/27 she returned to the ER after losing all feeling in her legs and as her feet had become cold. An MRI of her entire spine indicated that she had a herniated disc that needed immediate surgery.

After surgery Amber was fortunate enough to be placed in a rehabilitation center that specializes in her type of case and we thought she was on her way to recovery. Although she was still experiencing extensive tingling and unable to walk, she was wiggling her feet and was hopeful. Unfortunately on 5/16 Amber woke up completely numb from the waist down. After a meeting with her medical team her surgeon was contacted who immediately had her transported back to the emergency room to have a new MRI conducted.

At this time it was found that Amber had bleeding on her spine which was completely pinching the nerves to her legs. She was back under the knife on 5/17 to have the bleed addressed. While she was under the surgeon made the decision to remove more of her disc as well as shave a portion of the vertebrae to be extra cautious.

Amber is now once again on the road to recovery with increases in sensation and movement. She will be in the rehabilitation center for 4-6 more weeks at minimum to ensure she gains independence. She has a long road ahead of her but she feels that she has the medical supports necessary to have the best fighting chance at walking again.

Here's where you come in. Amber has been unable to work and is facing an immense amount of financial insecurity. She is a mom of 3 boys and her home is her sanctuary. Unfortunately it is also on the second floor, so until she improves she will be recovering at our dad's home.

Due to the urgent situation she has found herself in she is in need of some help. She would like to get through the summer and see what progress she makes before making decisions concerning her apartment. As you can imagine she has tapped herself out financially. That said, she is seeking financial assistance to cover the period in which she will be healing.
