A Desperate Journey: Help Us Get Home
My name is Amber Galloway, and I never thought I’d find myself in this position, pleading for help. As a single mother of three precious children, I have fought to provide a stable life for them, but life has thrown us one crushing blow after another. After uprooting our lives to Portland, Oregon for a job I believed would secure our future, the nonprofit I worked for suddenly closed its doors. Now, the walls are closing in as we face the harsh reality of homelessness, with no family nearby to turn to and nowhere safe to call home.
Our only option for survival is to return to Georgia, where I’ve found work and registered my children for school, but the journey to safety has become even harder. A kind-hearted man allowed me to take over payments on his converted school bus, offering us hope—a lifeline out of Portland. A generous mechanic even offered to make sure the bus was road-ready for our escape. But just as things were looking up, someone cruelly stole the battery and shattered one of the windows.
The bus, our only means of refuge and hope, now sits crippled. We are stranded, exhausted, and running out of time. All I want is to give my children a safe place to sleep, a chance to go to school, and a fresh start far away from the harsh streets that are threatening to consume us.
I am desperate. We need a new battery, gas money, food, water—anything to help us make this last, critical leap toward safety. Every dollar brings us closer to Georgia, to stability, to hope.
Please, if you can find it in your heart to help us escape this nightmare and rebuild our lives, we would be forever grateful. I’ve already lined up work, and I’m ready to fight for our future. I just need a little help to get us there.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, for caring, and for any support you can offer.
With hope and gratitude,
Amber, and my 3 beautiful children
