Sweet Amber is a tenacious, playful, and cheeky little girl who is just a few months shy of her 2nd birthday. Recently, Brooke and Eugene's world was turned upside down when Amber was diagnosed with renal cancer and had her kidney removed.

Amber became very ill after returning from a recent family trip to Australia. She began throwing up inexplicably for several days and was losing weight rapidly. By the time they were able to get to the doctor, she had lost 10% of her body weight and during the exam, doctors felt a mass on her left side.

After several appointments and tests, an ultrasound revealed a large tumor on her kidney, and she was quickly transferred in-network to Rocky Mountain Children’s Hospital. There, Amber underwent extensive testing, and within two days Amber underwent urgent surgery to remove both the tumor and her kidney.

Pathology confirmed it was a Stage 1 Wilms Tumor — a fast-growing pediatric cancer. The encouraging news is that it was caught early, and there is a strong possibility she may not need chemotherapy. Eugene and Brooke are awaiting final genetic testing to determine next steps.

While we are grateful for this hopeful prognosis, the medical bills are already significant. Your support will help offset the costs of surgery, hospital stays, follow-up care, and any additional treatments Amber may need.
