Support Amber Weissert's Play Echo at NYTF

Hello! My name is Amber Weissert, a Midwest-born and raised performer, educator, choreographer, and playwright. A little over a year ago, I moved to NYC to pursue my dreams of performing. Throughout my journey in finding my place in the big city, I found myself writing a play. In writing my play, I wanted to create the type of theatre I wanted to be a part of. I wanted to create exciting and interesting opportunities for artists, and now these wants are becoming a reality! This play has become much bigger than I ever anticipated. I have had a workshop reading of my play and will have another in early November. These workshops are in anticipation of its festival premiere this spring. My play, Echo, has been accepted to the New York Theatre Festival Spring and Summer series. Echo is the retelling of the Greek myth of Echo and Narcissus brought to life. A tale of love, sorrow, and sacrifice told through heightened text and modern movement.
This is very surreal and exciting for me as NYTF is the first opportunity for Echo to be staged and performed for public audiences! Donations would go towards paying artists, costumes and props, program and script printing, rehearsal space, and video archival. Any additional funds will be set aside for future productions and development of the piece! A donation of any size makes a difference and would be greatly appreciated. Echo is set to perform at the Hudson Guild Theatre in Manhattan in early June.
