Support Amber and Brandon Warren's NICU Journey
Donation protected
My precious friends Amber and Brandon Warren welcomed a beautiful baby boy, Myles, on 5/28/2025 via a scheduled C-section in Longview.
On 5/28/2025, Amber was able to briefly kiss Myles' head, and he was whisked off to the NICU where he has remained. He initially came out and had the umbilical cord wrapped around him once, so he was taken for oxygen support. Initially, they thought it was a simpler fix, just needing extra oxygen support. He was intubated to be given surfactant (medication to help immature lungs) and had the tube removed.
On 5/29/2025, he then developed a pneumomediastinum (air that had moved between the lungs). He has been struggling with respiratory distress and pulmonary hypertension. He was placed on increased oxygen to help displace that air where it should not be. His respiratory rate remained high, resting a lot around 160. Last night, his lung sounds could not be heard on one side, so after a chest X-ray was done, his lungs looked worse than prior imaging. He was reintubated to help his body get some rest because he was working so hard to breathe.
On 5/30/2025, he was moved to an oscillator ventilator to help do short quick breaths in hopes that it helps oxygenate his body without causing further damage to his lungs. They added nitric to his ventilator to help dilate/relax blood vessels to improve blood flow. He had an echo done on his heart which showed that his heart is essentially shunting blood to other areas, but the lungs are not responding to receive it. The doctor said normally nitric, if it’s gonna be effective, is most effective in the first 30 minutes. He didn’t have a vast improvement. His heart rate is in the 190s, and oxygen is slowly improving but not enough.
He is a 1:1, which means his nurse is only taking care of him due to his complexity. He is very fragile and has minimal touch times for momma and daddy in the NICU. He is getting another X-ray tonight and ABG. If there is no improvement in the next 4 hours, they are looking to send him to Dallas per the neonatologist. It’s not ideal to have him in an ambulance being this frail, but he is getting to a point where if there is not a miracle, he will need a higher level of care. Baby Myles has a wonderful NICU nurse providing diligent care, and Amber is being well taken care of. Life goes on despite all this, and whether it’s prayers or money to help, they could use it all at this time.
Brandon, for work, is a self-employed contractor, so he does not have the typical vacation or benefits. This is looking to be a lengthy hospital stay. They don’t ask for anything, and Amber is one of my very favorite people in the world. They need assistance for Brandon to be off and focusing on the baby and Everhett, their 1.5-year-old they have at home. Amber is on maternity leave but is only getting 60% of her pay and is still in the hospital as well. We don’t want finances to be a concern at this point, and even if he remains here, his medical bills are not gonna be cheap. They just need help with bills and possibly planning for Dallas depending on how the day progresses. We are in limbo right now and praying for a miracle for Myles Ezra. The cause of all of this is still not known or how things spiraled so fast.
Please keep them in your steadfast prayers, and if you can help financially, know that you’re appreciated! ❤️
