Life can change in a moment—and right now, a family I care about in Tacoma, WA is moving through one of those moments. My college friend Amber is a single mom of three (ages 6–15), doing her best every day to keep things steady in a world that doesn’t always make that easy. Amber is someone who truly shows up and does the best she can with what she’s been given. She works incredibly hard, even in a system that is stacked against her.

This week, her middle child—AJ, who just turned 11—was in a scooter accident and broke both of his arms. The scooter was his birthday present. AJ is a bright, kind kid who loves his friends and family, and enjoys playing soccer and video games. Right now, he just needs time, care, and support to heal—and as we all know, time and care can be some of the hardest (and most expensive) things to come by these days.

For Amber, this means slowing down work, taking on full-time caregiving, and navigating extra appointments, driving, and daily needs. Like many of us, asking for help isn’t easy—and the world can already feel heavy. For a neurodivergent family, that weight can be even greater to carry. So this is me, gently showing up on her behalf. Please be kind, please only move how you feel resonated to. If you feel moved to support, here are a few ways to help: financial support, groceries or meal support, or simply sharing this with others.

You can also support Amber directly via CashApp: $busham4711 or Venmo: @busham4711.

No pressure—truly. Everyone is carrying something these days. Even just reading, sharing, or sending a little care their way matters more than you know. Holding this family in light, and wishing the same for all of you too.
