To those who may not know, my name is Amaya Proctor. I’m an undergraduate student in the Bay Area who has worked tirelessly to have the opportunity to study abroad in London, England, at the University of Westminster to study business for the 2025 fall semester.

Having the opportunity to start this GoFundMe page in itself is an accomplishment, having struggled academically for a greater portion of my time spent in school. If anyone told me 2 or more years ago that I’d have the academic opportunity to study overseas as a college student, I think I'd start looking around for a camera crew and a “you got pranked” sign.

I went from being accused of having behavioral issues, being ridiculed by teachers at previous schools I attended, and feeling as if I didn't have the intellectual capacity to succeed in academic settings to being a phenomenal scholar. Knowing what it’s like to encounter constant failure, academic hardships, and the diagnosis of a learning disability, I cannot believe that I stand here today, with the support of my mother, family, and teachers, as a 4.0 GPA college student. Because of my journey, I have developed an unfound appreciation/gratitude for education and all academic opportunities that may come my way. To those who have continued to support me in my academic success, I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart, as without community, I KNOW I wouldn’t be here today with these opportunities that I’ve been blessed with.

As an incoming business major, I must work with my community and communities that I may not be familiar with to best communicate the needs of each member involved. Establishing community understanding through communication and the assessment of economic needs will directly support economic growth within the areas I choose to work in upon my return to America. I have selected to study in London, England, at the University of Westminster Business School through ISA Abroad because this program falls directly in line with my academic goals of eventually graduating as a business major with a master's degree and integrating into a community with a different form of lifestyle and unconventional communication outside of the community that is directly accessible to me. I will also have the opportunity to study business economics and accounting, which are two courses that are not available at my current home college.

The total cost for my travels abroad is $28,550, including airfare, insurance, tuition, housing, etc. Everything I raise will go directly towards all financial academic obligations I must fulfill by the end of August 2025. For me to make this opportunity a reality, I must fundraise $4000 to ensure I can fulfill my requirements.
