From Darkness to Light: A Journey of Hope

I grew up witnessing generational poverty, abuse, addiction, and violence. By 22, I was trapped in my own toxic cycles, haunted by my past. I was exhausted from the pain, but knew that I refused to stay stuck. With grit and determination, recovery efforts, faith, and the support of others, I began my journey to heal.

It wasn’t easy. Shame and fear often held me back. Yet, as I continued to share my story, I shed pieces of my past and stepped more into the thriving woman I was meant to be. Soon, women from all walks of life began to reach out, saying, “That’s my story too.” Together, we found healing through tears, prayer, laughter, and shared strength. I realized we are not defined by our pain, but by our ability to rise from it.

That’s when I understood: Your Story Matters. Sharing our struggles fosters faith, courage and freedom. Sharing our story has the power to heal and inspire. Wanting to capitalize on the healing found in these one-on-one moments, I dove into professional survivor-work in 2018. I have been serving women survivors of sex trafficking, abuse, addiction and violence ever since.

Now, with 7 years of experience and a fresh degree in Ministry Leadership, I’m ready to channel my work into greater action. I am building a faith-based nonprofit in Charlotte, NC, to provide aftercare programs for women survivors—offering workshops on adult literacy, home economics, job placement, purpose found in wholeness and more.

On November 9, 2024, I was recognized by the great state of North Carolina for my work with survivors and was crowned Mrs. Huntersville. The next stop for me is to compete for the Mrs. North Carolina title. As Mrs. North Carolina, my focus would be on increasing human trafficking awareness and speaking out about life after trauma, while continuing to serve vulnerable communities.

This is where you come in. Competing for Mrs. North Carolina is a joyous undertaking, but one I cannot do alone. As a traditional wife and homemaker, our family of 6 lives on 1 income. The cost of living today is high - and so is the cost of pageantry! If you choose to support me in this venture financially, your gift would go to all the necessary tasks I must meet to ensure I am successful, and even, victorious. Your monetary gifts would go to: interview training, wardrobe, photography, pageant workshops, marketing, travel and accommodations, and more. Any amount would be greatly appreciated and would help me get one step closer to becoming Mrs. North Carolina, or even, Mrs. America 2025.
