Support for Amanda’s son, Emmet

As many of you know by now, on Thursday, May 11th our worlds were turned upside down with the news of the passing of our dear friend, daughter, sister, mother, colleague, and angel on earth now in heaven, Amanda Bruhy.

At her young age of 43, plans were not in place (I mean, of COURSE not) for this unfathomable loss, and specifically her pride and joy, her son Emmet’s future. There is much to be discussed, decided, but none more important than the welfare and security of her incredibly talented son.

This is where this GoFundMe page gets rolling.

Amanda’s immediate family lives in and around Milwaukee. After conversations with Emmet about where he would like to live (no 19-year-old should have to have after this kind of horrific loss), he would love to stay here, where he was born and raised - his home, his comfort, his memories of his mom, his friends, his job, and his mom’s friends for an extended support system. We want to help him do just this.

Emmet is an absolutely amazing artist and active member of the community with a part-time job at Scandia Lodge. He wants to stay and live independently here in Door County. With this funding, guidance, support, and love from his family and friends, we are hoping to make this happen. No one deserves this chance more than him.

Thankfully Amanda’s family currently has a lead on a small apartment in Sister Bay, close to everything he needs and his work. In addition to immediate monetary support to offset any financial burden as he ebbs and flows through this new world, we are hoping to provide a year’s worth of rent as well, in order for him to continue to call Sister Bay home.

To know Emmet, is to love him. He is special. He is gifted. And he has a lot to offer this world and community….and he is our dear friend, daughter, sister…he is our girl Amanda’s son. Her legacy deserves nothing but good things from here - support, love, kindness, and help in any way we can.

This community has NEVER let another down in a time of need…and we feel nothing but amazing things once again from this incredible place that we are so fortunate to call home. Emmet wants to continue to do so as well.…and we would love to try to give him a chance to.
