UPDATE 06/01/2025: Despite all the generous support, we didn't reach our goal in time to keep our Studio open while Amanda goes through treatment, surgery, and recovery. I intend to keep this GoFundMe open for anyone who would like to support Amanda directly with any and all costs that come with cancer treatment and loss of income. Thank you all!
Hi, my name is Mea and I started this campaign to help my friend and business partner Amanda keep our dream project, Tilt and Squint Studio, running while she focuses on recovering from a breast cancer diagnosis.
We opened Amanda’s shining star, Tilt and Squint Studio, on November 3rd, 2024. The driving force behind the project was our need to provide a welcoming and nurturing space for kiddos and their grown-ups to discover and enjoy art, cooperation, and community spirit. All the while exploring things beyond “just” art – thinking outside of the box, making connections in the realm of abstract thought, as well as within the community. In this safe space we embrace ideas regarding well-being, reframing, reflection, and problem solving, for example.
Our umbrella is big and wide but the concept is simple - art classes, plus time well spent. We host art classes, multi-generational paint parties, a women’s circle, and a senior gathering. The main idea behind it all is connection through art. If you tilt your head slightly and squint a little, perception can shift creating space for a thoughtful and intentional pause.
The business is still very young, we’re still honing our message, and adapting our offerings to the community needs. We were getting ready to create the plan for late spring and summer, when Amanda’s regular exam brought the news no one wants to hear ever – breast cancer.
With the rest of the year uncertain, we’re at a crossroad: do we close our business before it even has a chance to grow and fulfill its potential or do we ask the community for support to keep the lights on until we can come back, healthy and more motivated than ever?
We decided on the latter because we believe in our mission and we hope that the community will too.
Any donations that exceed the Studio cost will go toward Amanda's recovery fund.
Thank you for your consideration! Please share our story with others, so together we can spread the word.
