Hi, I’m Amanda—a single mom of 4, living with terminal cancer and doing everything I can to provide for my kids while managing a body that doesn’t work like it used to.
Before my diagnosis for terminal cancer multiple myeloma and stage 5 kidney disease, I worked. I’ve always worked. But after being hit by a drunk driver, resulting in losing my vehicle and my job I’ve had working pilot car for over size loads, everything changed. That crash, drunk driver hitting my car while I wasn’t doing anything wrong, combined with my ongoing health issues, make it nearly impossible to find physical work I can do safely. I pick up what hours I can, that my body allows, but it’s not enough to keep up—especially as prices climb and my health declines. I am always open to new avenues of a career if anyone knows something I could do remotely and can work with my health conditions.
5 Years of chemotherapy now have taken their toll physically, mentally, and emotionally. But I can’t stop. My body is fighting in survival mode right now. I receive disability income, but it doesn’t stretch far enough to cover even the basics anymore. I’m not asking for a handout—I’m asking for a tribe. I’m holding onto my faith and relationships I’ve built and trusting someone out there is able to help. I know I would if I could.
My kids are growing fast, and I can’t afford essentials like socks, clothes that fit, (they grow so fast)or hygiene items. These aren’t luxuries—they’re daily necessities.
I wasn’t handed anything—I’ve fought for every single thing I’ve had. I’ve worked for it. That’s the way I was taught. I’ve always believed in working for what I have. But right now, I’m falling short. I’m doing everything I can—selling what I can, budgeting down to the penny, applying for assistance—but I still can’t stretch $1,100 across rent, utilities, and four growing children.
Your donation will help with:
• Rent & utilities (power, water, trash, Wi-Fi)
• Car insurance & gas for appointments & children to get to their jobs
• Clothes, socks, and hygiene needs for my kids
• Food and household basics / give me a seed to a fruit tree I can grow. Teach me how and save my life.
I know everyone is going through something. But if you feel led to help—through a donation or by sharing this—thank you. I don’t take it lightly. Every dollar goes directly toward keeping my children safe, cared for, and prepared for school and life.
With love and deep gratitude,
Amanda
