Hi my name is Amanda and I have cancer, Choriocarcinoma. I am 38yrs old and have 4 amazing children with Andrew whom I have been with going on 19yrs April 15th 2025... My 3 boys are Brian (16yrs), Jaydon (13yrs), Jackson (12yrs), and my daughter Brianna (23months)... In 2024 we were ready to expand our family even more.. I found out I was pregnant in April had my first appointment at the end of May and got to hear the heartbeat. From there we found out we were having another boy up until my 18 week appointment on July 22nd, that's when things spiraled. There was no longer a heartbeat, from there I chose to take medicine to pass him along. Around 2-3 weeks (August now) things were getting worse, called my Dr and we went with a D&C, after that abnormal cells were found but nothing cancerous. Each week I had to do HCG checks to make sure it went to 0... Well in my case it went up so we did another D&C in September with ultrasound as guidance this came back as cancer.. At the end of September I was diagnosed with choriocarcinoma and would need chemo... October 18th was my first chemo treatment on a single agent chemo called Act-d.. My HCG numbers got so high that the local hospital's lab could not read my numbers past 200k so we started sending them to Mayo.. By the time Thanksgiving rolled around the single agent chemo was not working.. Dec 6th we had a scan to verify I was stage 3, the cancer moved to my lungs. Soon after this I started coughing up blood and ended up in the hospital 3 different times in December.. The 3rd hospital visit the scan showed my left lower lung collapsed. Dec 21st I was flighted over to Edina, MN to be closer to my oncologist Dr treating me... We were switching me to a multi agent chemo called EMACO... So starting January 2025 we have been driving 10hrs one way every other week to do my treatments due to this treatment is not an option closer to me... The EMACO seemed to have been working up until last month March 2025.. My HCG got down to the 400 range and then started to go back up, so a hysterectomy was the next step. Right before surgery my HCG was up 4800 after surgery 800. Then just this last week I started coughing up blood, another scan done showing its back in my lung again. So we are now going to switch things up with my chemo regiment and also hit my lung with radiation. Its been a long road for my family and myself.. The cost is only climbing and not sure when we will see the end of this cancer I have. I know there are a lot of people out there needing help and I am not one to ask for help. The cost of gas, hotels, food, loss of income, and medical bills piling up is way more then I expected it to be. I'm doing my best to stay positive during this but there are days its hard. My cancer is rare in general, its highly aggressive but highly treatable but in my case I'm looking more and more like a unicorn. Most people find out they have cancer due to their pregnancy, in my case my pregnancy gave me cancer. Choriocarcinoma
Most recent UPDATE we are now going forward with surgery to remove my left lower lobe on my lung to get rid of the cancer that showed itself there again along with eliminating anymore possible bleeding this will take place on April 24th 2025... after I heal for 2-3 weeks I will start a whole new chemo regiment to hopefully finish this cancer off... ***Follow my journey on instagram: amandalynch06
UPDATE: The cancer is now in my liver. I did a CT scan today before my lung removal surgery tomorrow and now have a new spot on my liver... this cancer moves fast as I just did a scan 2 weeks ago.. this just seems to never end and it's taking its toll.... Any help in passing this on would be greatly appreciated, thank you
4-29 UPDATE: Well I had surgery last Thursday everything went good felt good got discharged and headed home which is a 9hr drive. On the way home I felt like I was running a fever sure enough I was and my breathing was getting shallow. Went to the ER in Minot ND and have been admitted I am currently still in hospital being pumped full of antibiotics and pain meds. Might be getting flighted over to MN but we will wait and see thats all I have so far.
