Hi my name is Gracie and I am starting this fundraiser for my 43 year old mom Amanda who has been battling stage 4 Ovarian cancer and peritoneal carcinomatosis for the past 21 months. Up until about a month ago she continued to work full time, even while getting continuous chemotherapy and having major abdominal surgery. She had to apply for disability and even with the compassion allowance, there is a 5 month waiting period before she will receive benefits. She has also had to have my dad add her to his insurance which was very expensive but no one wants to insure someone with cancer going through treatment. She has mounting medical bills for all the treatments and now that she has lost her job, she is unsure of what to do. So that is the reason for me starting this but let me tell you a little about my mom. She was in complete shock in the ER the day she was told she had advanced cancer. We do not have a family history so we would have never thought of cancer especially not one that is so rare and aggressive. She traveled to MD Anderson to get second opinion where she was told that she was terminal with 1-3 years to live, probably less and that she was too sick to be in any clinical trials. It has been over a year now since that news. She has continued to take one brutal chemo after another all while continuing to work, take care of us all, clean our home and speak out on social media to spread awareness. She answers every message sent to her by women scared that they too may have ovarian cancer. My mom is a beast. I am not sure how she keeps going but she just does. She has signed up with palliative to control her unbearable pain and her lack of energy. My mom is a fighter and says she will fight till her last breath to stay here with us. I think that it is horrible that she has to battle cancer and worry about how she is going to pay for everything that comes with it. We have had so many people reach out to us wanting to help her as she has always helped others so I decided to put this out there for anyone wanting to help her. This cancer has not only been extremely difficult for her but it has hurt the ones close to her tremendously. Please consider donating and thank you all for your continued support and prayers.
