Support Amanda, Roxi and Nico after a car crash

Donation protected
Last Saturday morning, on July 30th, Nicolás Alcalá, Roxi Shohadee and Amanda Joy Gilbert were involved in a tragic car crash in Ibiza, Spain.

The three of them are in a private hospital called Policlínica Nuestra Señora del Rosario.

  • Amanda is in intensive care, in an induced coma at the moment after a subdural hemorrhage (major concussion, brain trauma, but the skull didn't get fractured). She is waiting for her surgery, which is happening on Monday at 8am Spain time to repair her broken vertebrae and restabilize her spine to protect her mobility. L2 is the only fractured disk but is very unstable. She also has a fractured collar clavicle.

  • Roxi’s sternum is fractured, and she has immense whiplash and contusions so she is still in bed with limited mobility due to the intense pain and swelling across her body.

  • Nico is dealing with two broken ribs and two collapsed vertebrae. He has limited mobility, and he feels intense pain with every breath.

Unfortunately, Nico and Roxi do not have travel insurance, and the costs are skyrocketing. They have a long road to recovery ahead of them.

We need your help to collect funds to support the hospital bills, legal bills and everything needed until they are able to go back home.

We do not yet have totals of how much money they are going to need. Funds raised will go to support bringing costs down. We will provide updates, numbers and uses of funds for the sake of transparency.

Thank you so much for your support.

I will be sharing updates here, so come back to this page to learn how this situation is progressing. We will share more as more info is available.

Thank you soooo much, friends. Please share this to anybody that would be willing to support.

I love you.

Use of Funds

We don't have the bills from the private hospital yet, but have estimated Nico's costs to be around 8k and Roxi around 5k. Amanda is covered.

The accident's car is 2k.

Logistical costs from this week (housing and travel for family, car rental, meals...) is coming up to 2k and an additional 3-5k is expected to be spent for the time our friends need to stay in Ibiza - they are not allowed to fly back to the US at the moment due to their injuries. We would like also like to use to funds to cover the flights back to the US which will be more than 1-2k per person.

There is a long path before coming back to normal life again. The rest of the funds will go to support physical therapy, recovery therapy, and other health and medical expenses that are not clear at the moment.

We are humbled by anything that is given and in eternal gratitude with so much generosity.

We will continue updating this section as we know the total numbers from the hospital bills and other details. Thank you for your patience.

All the funds will go to Roxi's bank account in the US. Her accountant Vitalia will be managing the distribution of the funds (thank you Vitalia for your great help).

About the organizers
I am Caro, a close friend of Nico, Roxi and Amanda. I am the one writing, but we are a big group of friends working and supporting as we can to help with the immediate needs after the accident. I am Spanish but I am currently in Mexico, so I'm helping from the distance. There are other amazing people in Ibiza supporting them.
