Amanda’s son Robbie recently underwent a pulmonary valve replacement surgery right after Christmas. The procedure itself went smoothly, but the doctors were unable to fully reduce the size of his pulmonary artery due to the risk of occlusion. They did as much as they could to relieve the pressure on his airway, but this may be something Robbie will have to manage for the rest of his life, or it could improve as he grows older.
Shortly after surgery, Robbie developed bilateral pneumothorax in his lungs and needed another operation to place chest tubes. He began using an incentive spirometer, which helped his recovery, but during the night his oxygen levels dropped and he had to be placed back on oxygen. While the surgeons say this isn’t uncommon, it’s still a challenging situation for Amanda and her family. Through it all, Robbie has shown incredible strength and is not in any distress, but the road ahead will be long.
Robbie’s recovery is expected to take at least six weeks, if not longer, due to these complications. Amanda is family, and we want to do everything we can to support her during this time. She will need to be out of work to care for Robbie, and the funds raised will help cover hospital bills, unforeseen bills, daily expenses, and anything else she might need—like extra food and gas for hospital visits. Even a small donation can make a big difference, and if you’re unable to give, please consider sharing their story to help spread the word and offer support. Your prayers and kindness mean the world to Amanda and Robbie as they navigate this difficult journey.
