My name is Kevin Harrison, and I am a family friend of the Malin family and the Sheriff of Warren County, Missouri. I also have the privilege of employing Amanda’s husband, Sergeant Josh Malin, who has faithfully served our community as a deputy since 2015 and currently serves as a K9 handler alongside his partner, Melvin.
I am writing today to ask for your support for an incredible woman, wife, and mother—Amanda Malin.
Amanda is 39 years old, a devoted mother to two young children both under the age of five, and works as a customer service representative. Like many parents, she balances work, family, and life with quiet strength. In early December, that balance was shattered when Amanda was diagnosed with cervical cancer after months of unexplained symptoms and a sudden medical emergency.
What makes Amanda’s story even more difficult is that she did everything right. She stayed diligent with her healthcare, received the HPV vaccine, and kept up with annual Pap smears. Even her doctors have said her case is unusual. Despite that, she now faces an aggressive and exhausting treatment journey that includes:
• External radiation treatments Monday through Friday for approximately six weeks
• Internal brachytherapy treatments once a week
• Weekly chemotherapy
• Hospital admissions, blood transfusions, procedures, and ongoing complications related to bleeding and elevated calcium levels
Amanda has already endured ER visits, surgeries, a port placement, multiple transfusions, and internal radiation just to stabilize her condition. During staging scans, doctors identified an area of concern on Amanda’s liver. Due to its location near her heart and diaphragm, it could not be safely biopsied. Her medical team is continuing to closely monitor and evaluate this as part of her overall treatment plan.
She has now begun chemotherapy and continues daily radiation treatments. Through all of this, her focus remains on fighting with everything she has—for her children, her husband, and her family.
Josh, in addition to supporting Amanda through every step of this journey, continues to serve our community as a law enforcement officer. The emotional, physical, and financial strain on this family is immense. Medical bills, travel for treatment, time away from work, childcare needs, and everyday expenses do not stop when cancer enters your life.
This GoFundMe is meant to help ease that burden—so Josh can focus on being a husband and father, and Amanda can focus on healing without the constant worry of how the bills will be paid.
