Hello, my name is Crystal. I'm reaching out today to ask for help on behalf of my dear friend, Amanda Gretz, who is facing severe hardship due to a series of unfortunate circumstances, and I believe we can make a difference for her with your support.
Amanda Gretz is a disabled woman who relies on Social Security benefits for her income. Recently, she qualified for a HUD program called Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) through Integrated Services.
However, despite being promised assistance, she's been left in a dire situation, struggling to make ends meet, and her health is deteriorating rapidly.
What happened:
In the process of securing a place to live, Amanda was encouraged by her Integrated Services Worker to sign a lease for an apartment without being given clear information on how much rent she'd be responsible for. She was told that the amount would be "very small" and that it wouldn't be a problem, but after signing the lease, she found out that nearly half of her limited income was going to rent—leaving her with only $30 per month to cover food, hygiene, and other basic necessities.
When she expressed concerns about her ability to pay, she was told that backing out of the lease wasn't an option. The landlord threatened legal action, including a court judgment, if she didn't pay. The Integrated Service Worker suggested she get a part-time job or even let her car be repossessed to manage the financial burden.
To make matters worse, her apartment is infested with rats, which have worsened her health, especially concerning her preexisting conditions like COPD. Despite numerous complaints, the rats continue to destroy her property, including food, hygiene products, and other things. The landlord has not taken adequate steps to fix the issue.
Her situation has gotten worse—she's struggling to breathe because of the stairs in her building, as well as the rat infestation. Her health is declining, and she has only $30 left every month to survive after paying for her car, car insurance, and rent.
On top of that, recently her wallet was lost and later returned, but all of her cash—money she had saved in it to make her car payment and rent—was stolen. Her car payment is now overdue, adding more pressure to an already unbearable situation.
How you can help:
We're asking for your help to raise funds so Amanda can pay her rent, her car payment, and cover some of her immediate living expenses. Her health is declining rapidly, and the stress of all of this is making things worse. She needs a safe place to live, and she needs to be able to keep her car so she can get to medical appointments and buy groceries.
Any contribution, big or small, will make a tremendous difference in her life. Your kindness will help alleviate some of the financial strain she's had to endure and allow her to focus on her health and well-being.
Our goal:
We're hoping to raise $1500 to cover her rent for the next month, her overdue car payment, and basic living expenses to get her back on track. The situation is urgent, and we need your help now more than ever.
Thank you for your compassion and support.
Every donation, prayer, and share is greatly appreciated, and I know it will make a world of difference for Amanda in this time of need. Please share this with your friends and family—together, we can give her a chance at a better, more stable life.
