Support Amanda Bennett's Recovery Journey
Donation protected
Hello, I am Leigh Ann Bennett and we are raising donations to help our daughter, Amanda Bennett, recover after her liver transplant and Colo/rectal surgeries.
This is my daughter, Amanda Bennett. She is 28 years old and lives in Nashville, TN. I’ve been told that if you’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting her you know she has a heart of gold. She graduated in 2019 with a BS in Psychology from James Madison University. Amanda is a bartender in Nashville and absolutely loves her dachshund “Riff”. She enjoys reading, music, cooking, decorating, being with friends, journaling, spending time with Riff, fishing and is definitely a “Swiftie”
In January of 2018 she was diagnosed with Autoimmune Hepatitis, PBC (Primary biliary cholangitis), Cirrhosis (from the AIH), Ulcerative colitis, anemia and splenomegaly. By the time her liver disease was discovered it was already Cirrhosis.
Amanda has had over 20 hospitalizations and several hospital stays for a variety of issues including COVID 19.
In February 2024, Amanda was admitted to the hospital with Pneumonia and Covid. Within 2 days, she was sent to the ICU where her oxygen levels dropped quickly. She was on high pressure oxygen and stayed in the ICU for 30 days. Once they thought the infection had cleared, they found she then had another bacterial infection which created pneumonia again. She did not walk for 12 days. She was then sent home with Vanderbilt’s “Hospital at Home” program.
Also in 2024, Amanda had 4 hospital visits due to her ITP and It is treated with steroids and suffered from steroid induced psychosis.
In September of 2024, Amanda started her evaluation process for liver transplantation and colorectal surgery. She was listed on the UNOS list on Friday, 11/15/2024. She received her liver offer on Sunday, 11/17/2024 and on Monday, 11/18/2024 Amanda received her new liver and an ileostomy, spending a week in the hospital following. She has visited the ER 4 time since that.
We are fundraising to try and raise money for her hospital expenses, medicines, co-pays, daily living expenses and any other emergencies that may come up. Only a certain amount of ostomy products are covered by insurance. Amanda will need at least 2 more GI surgeries this year.
Please consider making a donation. Thank you!!
