Support Amanda and her family in their toughest time.

As a family member, I feel compelled to share our extended young family's tragic story.

In January of 2022, the family had to relocate to Michigan before their daughter's birth. Tony was off work for 3 months while being self-employed, and their boys were in two different states. After their daughter's surgery, the medical bills started, and they had to eventually sell their house to pay off their medical and credit card debt. Five and a half months after her surgery, Amanda was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer.

She was in remission for a year and a half, but in June of 2024, she fractured her C7 and went on to receive treatment again. She was doing well until December when the back pain started. It wasn’t until March of 2024 that they found a tumor had fractured her T8 and compressed her spinal cord. She started radiation the next day and only had two treatments before they believe it caused swelling to the tumor. She developed a foot drop and fell at home on March 30th, fracturing her T7 and T9, compressing her spinal cord even further. She was rushed into emergency surgery and was in ICU for a week at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. She was in a step-down therapy unit for two weeks before transferring to an in-patient rehab in Nebraska.

Currently, she’s doing an 8-week out-patient rehab in Nebraska, with her husband, Tony, and 3 children, Ryan, Cole, and Tatum, helping her recover. They believe the prognosis to walk again is high, which is encouraging for the family.

Tony is there taking care of her, and with him being self-employed, the financial struggle is accumulating. It’ll be a long road to recovery, and with most of the extended family being in Illinois, Tony has no alternative but to stay home and take care of his family. She will need outpatient therapy and in-home exercise when they go home.

The family would appreciate any donation and prayers for strength and healing. It’s a long road, but they can do it. Please help to share this unfortunate medical tragedy with other kind people to alleviate this financial burden.
