Dear friends and family,
We are deeply saddened to share that our dear friend and brother, Amal (affectionately known as Kannapi, or “Gym Amal”), is currently in critical condition in the hospital. Amal was born and raised in Kottayam, Kallara. He came to the United States in 2019 and has been working as a pastry chef in the Swadeshi Plaza, serving the Irving and Dallas areas. He is not only a talented chef, but also a loving husband and a devoted father. His wife and their 7-year-old daughter are currently in India.
Amal has always been a healthy and active person. However, in the last week of March, he suddenly began experiencing weakness and difficulty breathing. He was rushed to the emergency room and later airlifted to Medical City Dallas due to severe lung damage from pneumonia, where he was placed on a ventilator in the ICU. During routine tests, we received heartbreaking news—Amal has also been diagnosed with AML leukemia. This has been devastating for his family and all of us who care deeply about him. As his condition did not improve, doctors recommended ECMO support to help his heart and lungs recover. He was airlifted again to another nearby hospital for this advanced treatment. At this time, Amal continues to fight bravely for his life.
Amal is a strong fighter, and we believe in his strength and resilience. We humbly ask for your prayers, love, and support during this incredibly difficult time. We have also started a fundraiser to help his recovery and support his family during this crisis. Any contribution, big or small, will make a meaningful difference and is deeply appreciated. Thank you all for standing with him and his family.
