Hey there! My name is Ama Lea, I'm a filmmaker based out of Los Angeles, CA.

My previous credits include Slashercise, Deathcember, Fangoria Chainsaw Awards 2022, and the ABC's Of Death Franchise. I'm raising funds for my upcoming horror short film called Pretty Brutal!

THE STORY

PRETTY BRUTAL is a neon-soaked horror thriller set over the course of one deadly night.

As a full moon rises over Los Angeles, police investigate a string of ritualistic murders linked to the city’s strip clubs. The victims, discovered posed in grotesque and deliberate arrangements.

Inside the Paradiso, dancer Maeve prepares for another shift while fear spreads among the staff. A sleazy club manager refuses to shut down, and a violent regular returns with unfinished business, placing Maeve squarely in harm’s way.

Who will survive the night at The Paradiso?

This movie doesn't go the way you think it's gonna.

WHY THIS FILM??

I've been making films since I was a kid by any means necessary and very rarely with any sort of budget. I want to create something impactful. Something that as a filmmaker can showcase what i'm capable of, and to also deliver a really iconic film that hopefully you enjoy watching!!

INFLUENCES

Pretty Brutal is heavily influenced by Manhunter, Se7en, Longlegs and Carpenter Brut's Turbo Killer Music Video. It's a neon drenched heavily stylized serial killer story. A neon noir if you will. See what I did there? lol

WHERE WILL THIS FILM END UP??

This film is part of the Just Scare Me film collective where directors have 2 months to make a film or else pay the group $100 to forfeit.

This is my 9th time participating and the first time I've ever had to raise funds, but this project deserves a decent budget.

So basically this movie has a deadline of the end of May which is why it's so imperative that we hit our goal as soon as possible. The urgency is real!!!!

After the initial screening Pretty Brutal will be submitted to various film festivals. In my 15+ years in the industry, I've never had the opportunity to do this.

It will eventually end up on streaming/youtube/etc for everyone to enjoy. Backers will be sent a private link to watch it upon it's completion.

We have an epic cast that we will be announcing in the updates but for now I can tell you Jessa Jupiter Flux will be our lead, Maeve!
