Hi everyone! My name is Justin Kody, and I’m raising money for a cause that means a lot to me - having had two grandparents who have been affected by this disease.
One of the best-supported ways to reduce dementia risk through exercise is consistent aerobic activity — especially moderate-to-vigorous cardio like brisk walking, jogging, or cycling. Regular aerobic exercise increases blood flow to the brain, supports the growth of new neural connections, improves insulin sensitivity, lowers inflammation, and helps preserve the hippocampus, a brain region heavily involved in memory that tends to shrink with age. Research consistently shows that aiming for around 150 minutes per week of moderate aerobic exercise can meaningfully support long-term brain health and cognitive function.
The Challenge
About 1 in every 3 Americans knows someone who has Alzheimer's and 26% of caregivers report caring for someone with Alzheimer’s or dementia. This safe to say that this disease hits Close to Home for many of us.
By participating in the Kody Physical Therapy & Performance Close to Home Challenge and deciding to either walk, run or bike within a 1-5 mile radius of your residence throughout the month of June, you are actively helping promote other means of transportation beyond driving, which reaps negative health effects on our bodies, our air and our ecosystem and helping reduce the risk of getting Alzheimer's as we age.
Alzheimer's Association
The Alzheimer's Association leads the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support. A world without Alzheimer's and all other dementia.™
Every contribution, big or small, makes a real impact. Even just a few dollars can help move this mission forward and reach those who need it most.
If you can’t donate right now, sharing this fundraiser is also incredibly helpful. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. It means the world to me.
