Support Alzheimer's Association in Memory of Bob Gugenheim

In Memory of Robert “Bob” Gugenheim

Hi everyone, my name is Brandon Gugenheim, and I’m raising money in memory of my grandfather, Robert (“Bob”) Gugenheim, who passed away on February 24, 2025, after a long and difficult battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Bob was many things: a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He had a sharp wit, a bone-dry sense of humor, and a way of making you laugh—especially when he was slyly sneaking in a questionable move during a family card game.

To me, and to so many others, my grandfather meant the world. Watching his fight with Alzheimer’s inspired me to live life to the fullest, face adversity head-on, and chase my dreams no matter how daunting. Nothing in this world is promised, and in his honor, I’m chasing mine this October.

Why This Fundraiser

On October 25, 2025, I will be racing in the Ironman 70.3 in Wilmington, NC in honor of my grandfather, dedicating every mile to him and to families everywhere who have been touched by Alzheimer’s.

Training for and completing an Ironman requires endurance, perseverance, and heart—qualities my grandfather carried with him throughout his life and during his long battle with this disease. My swim, bike, and run are not just for me; they are for him, and for all those still fighting.

How You Can Help

Your donation will go directly to the Alzheimer’s Association, supporting their mission to advance research, provide care for patients and families, and ultimately to find a cure. No contribution is too small—whether it’s the cost of a scoop of Graeter’s ice cream or a pack of Double Stuff Oreos, every bit helps bring us closer to ending Alzheimer’s.

If you knew Bob, you would know how much he valued family, humor, and living life to the fullest. If you didn’t, I hope this fundraiser gives you a glimpse of the incredible man he was.

Thank you for helping me honor his memory in a way that continues his legacy of love, laughter, and strength.

Every mile I race is for Bob—and for all families still fighting.
