Hello all! My name is Alyviah Wooten and I am thrilled to say that I am a student of Sight & Sound Conservatory for their 2024-2026 two-year program!
I first auditioned in the spring of 2023 and got first alternate. They only except ten students per year, so I considered this a huge honor. When I didn’t get into the Conservatory, my family prayed about the next steps. As a whole, we believed the Lord was leading us to leave our hometown and move to Lancaster, Pennsylvania to help me pursue my dream of ministering on stage at Sight & Sound.
We moved in August 2023 and I immediately pursued a job at Sight & Sound as an usher. I love this ministry and I just wanted to be a part of what God is doing there. As an usher I have been able to see first hand the impact that these Bible stories brought to life are having in the lives of the guests.
I applied for the Conservatory again in December and got the invitation to audition in April of 2024. This time, God opened the door for me to be accepted into the program!
I am here raising money for the purpose of funding my tuition and living expenses in order for me to partake in the program. This is a rather large goal and we are asking for your support!
Many of you reading this are very familiar with our story. You know the hard work and steps of faith we have made as a family to get us where we are today. So, please read very carefully to see exactly how you can help support me as I raise funds for my journey at Sight & Sound!
THE CONSERVATORY
First off, let me introduce you to the program itself.
Sight & Sound Theatre accepts 10 students per year to be a part of their Conservatory (https://www.sight-sound.com/conservatory). The goal of the conservatory is to invest in the next generation of Christ-centered performing artists by mentoring them both as a performer and a disciple of Christ. They do that in the following ways:
- Classroom instruction in acting, singing, dancing, and other relevant courses
- Providing the opportunity to perform in Sight & Sound Theatre’s professional productions
- Cultivating a lifestyle of character, commitment, and competence
The two-year long conservatory program features a variety of intensive classes including improvisation, voice and speech, singing for the stage, stage combat, musical theatre dance, and many more, in addition to a discipleship class that lasts the duration of the program.
Applying what is taught in the classroom, the conservatory students will perform on the Sight & Sound stage as cast members alongside the professional cast in eleven shows per week! This not only strengthens skills, but it helps students evaluate the theatre life firsthand and seeing what it is like to be on stage doing the same show over and over again for months on end.
Due to the demands of the program, it will be impossible for me to continue working a job while performing 11 shows a week and attending classes Monday through Friday. I am trying to save as much as I can, but I need your help to secure the funds needed to complete the program.
THE THEATRE
Sight & Sound Theatre is located in Lancaster, PA in the heart of a region rich with prestigious theatres and schools and also has a location Branson, MO.
For those of you not familiar with Sight & Sound, it is “where the Bible comes to life.” They produce high-quality theatre based on Biblical stories including, Jonah, Samson, Moses, Queen Esther, David, Daniel (currently playing through December 31st), and Jesus. Next year they will be doing a 30th Anniversary production of Noah. As part of my classes I will be in this production.
They also have a films division. They have released one movie, “I Heard The Bells”, which is about Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Also as a part of my education I will be a part of their upcoming movie production soon to be announced.
Both theatres seat over 2,000 people each, and have a 300-foot panoramic stage, state-of-the-art technology, and live animals. It’s an amazing place that inspires close to 2 million visitors per year!
If you have never seen a show, I highly recommend it! You can learn more here: www.sight-sound.com
THE NEEDS
As wonderful as the conservatory is, it does come with a hefty cost. As a full-time student and acting in Sight & Sound’s main stage production, I have no way of having a job to earn money to cover tuition or even basic living expenses. This is why I am asking for your help in financing my time in the Conservatory. Here is a breakdown of the financial goals.
The total cost of tuition for the two-year program is $19,200. Thankfully, my parents moved to PA with me and I can live with them, eliminating the cost of rent and utilities for me. I do still have to pay for my car, insurance, my phone, gas, and just basic bills to do what I need to do. I estimate this to be a minimum of $500 per month. This makes the total amount that I need to raise $29,200.
I hope to raise the entire amount as this will also eliminate the burden on my parents to come up with the finances as well. They have already made a huge sacrifice to move to Pennsylvania with me in order to help me pursue this dream.
I have broken this down into four goals:
Goal #1: Tuition for the first year - $9,600
(Due August 15, 2024).
I need this paid to begin the program. My parents have already paid $1,000.
Goal #2: Living Expenses for the first year - $5,000
(Goal December 31, 2024).
This will help me focus on what I believe God is calling me to do.
Goal #3: Tuition for the second year - $9,600
(Due June 2025).
This amount is due to begin my second year in the program.
Goal #4: Living Expenses for the second year - $5,000
(Goal December 31, 2025).
This will help me continue to do what I believe God is calling me to do.
You can donate right here on GoFundMe, or if you would like to donate directly via a check or Venmo, you can contact me and ask for that information privately.
IN CONCLUSION
As I mentioned, this is a huge goal, and honestly, a little bit intimidating, but I have faith that God has not brought me this far for nothing. With your help, I believe these needs can be met. Even a little can go a long way, so I hope you prayerfully consider exactly how much you would like to support me in this ministry.
While the primary way you can support me is financially, you can also support me by praying for me. Many of you know my parents and some of you have even supported some of their mission trips over the years. To me, this is my mission field. Jesus used stories to communicate His message. I plan to do the same thing by utilizing my gifts and passions for theatre to tell the amazing stories of the Bible and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and please pray for me as I prepare.. and above all, I pray that everything I do brings glory to Jesus alone.
