Alyssa Buttons has always been the first to rally for her friends, family, and neighbors. She’s the kind of person who goes above and beyond, giving whatever she can to support others in need.

Now, after a lifetime of PCOS, rupturing ovarian cysts, and over a year of severe menstrual pain, heart palpitations, and fainting spells, Alyssa is facing a much-needed hysterectomy.

Her surgery is scheduled for this Friday, but despite applying for paid leave well in advance, Alyssa and her husband Kyle are still waiting for approval. With two children to care for and Alyssa unable to work for at least four weeks, Kyle will need to take time off to manage childcare, household responsibilities, and support Alyssa’s recovery. Like many families, they live paycheck to paycheck, and this unexpected gap in income is a huge challenge.
