Support Alyssa's Friend in Crisis

I’m creating this GoFundMe to support one of my best friends, someone I love deeply, who is currently facing an overwhelming financial and life crisis. I’m keeping her anonymous to protect her privacy, but I promise, she is someone who truly deserves help right now.
Four years ago, when I was hospitalized, so many people came through for me on this website, and that support gave me the space to rest and heal; I still carry gratitude for it every single day. I’m hoping, with everything in me, that this can be a moment like that for her, too.
Here’s what’s going on:
- She urgently needs new brakes on her car. This is her biggest obstacle right now. Without them, she can’t safely get to work, and her hours have already taken a hit.
- She’s currently in an ongoing court case with her apartment complex, who refused to renew her lease with almost no notice. (Just TWO months before it was set to end.) This left her scrambling for options while still trying to survive day to day. The apartment complex had already been neglecting requested repairs for months, and since the case began, they’ve even illegally shut off her electricity.
- She has beloved animals that she’s caring for, and feeding and supporting them is non-negotiable for her, even in the chaos.
- Her roommate recently left, refusing to take responsibility for their share of the damage to the apartment. (Including animal neglect and poor living conditions that she alone has had to manage. It’s been emotionally and financially draining.)
- Most painfully, she has no family to fall back on. The people who should have been there for her growing up were abusive in ways I don’t even have words for. She’s had to build her entire support system from scratch..from friends, from chosen family, and that takes time and energy, which she’s spent for years now just trying to stay afloat. As her chosen family, this is how I feel I can best help.
- She’s done everything right. She’s lived on her own for nearly a decade, taken care of her mental health, worked tirelessly, stayed kind and responsible in situations that would break most people. But everything has snowballed, and right now she’s standing at the edge of a cliff, facing potential homelessness if nothing shifts.
I'm trying to raise as much as I can to help her:
- Fix her car
- Cover moving costs
- Support her animals
- Have even a little bit of breathing room so she can land on her feet when this apartment situation resolves
