My daughter Alyssa was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. She was having hip pain and was being treated for a sports injury. Over several weeks of physical therapy her pain was only getting worse. I believed this wasn’t normal for a 21 year old not to have recovered or have improved. I insisted on an MRI of her hip. The day of her MRI I received a call from her doctor and he had stated that she had metastatic cancer all throughout her hip and back. Not the news I was expecting for my amazing daughter. They admitted her to Cleveland Clinic main campus to figure out what was going on. Over a 10 day hospital stay they had ruled almost every type of cancer. They eventually got the advanced testing done and she was diagnosed with metastatic small cell lung carcinoma all throughout her body. She is 1 of 6 patients in the world to ever present with this cancer. It usually happens in older patients. She’s had her first round of chemotherapy/immunotherapy and is home doing much better, all things considered. She’s a trooper. We have a lot of great doctors and nurses working together to get her healthy again. Please pray for a miracle so my daughter can get better. She is one of the sweetest people I know. She just finished her undergrad and was planning on going to PA school at Case. Hopefully this is just a bump in the road and she can finish her dreams. I would trade places with her in a second.
