Support Alyssa's Family After Devastating Fire
Donation protected
On Thursday September 26, Alyssa Chavarria, her 4 and 5-year-old children Starli and Cayde and sister-in-law Jules Chavarria left their home for work while employees of a solar company were installing panels on their roof. Since the workers weren’t going to finish by the time they had to leave for work, Alyssa put their 2-year-old dog Kona in a crate indoors so she wouldn’t get in their way. A couple hours after the family left, they received a call that their house was on fire. They rushed to the scene to find their home still in flames, killing their dog Kona and cat Phoebe. It was then they found out that the fire started in the attic at the same time that the solar employees had turned the electricity back on after completing their work. Investigations are ongoing, but the fire department stated that it was likely due to a solar panel installment error.
Many of their belongings appear to be unsalvageable, deemed toxic due to exposure to asbestos from the collapsing structure, lead from melted paint, carcinogenic smoke etc.
Alyssa, Starli, Cayde and Jules are currently staying in a single room hotel with one bed and a pull-out couch until further notice. Anything to assist them in replacing clothes, food, toiletries, homeschool supplies and toys for the children, blankets, bedding, kitchenware, electronics, shoes etc. is greatly appreciated.
