Hi everyone! My name is Alyssa Castillo and I am a Junior at Innovation High School in Orlando, FL and a proud member of the Crimsonette Color Guard team at IHS. This year, I have the incredible opportunity to be a member of the Crossmen Drum Corps during DCI's Summer Tour. DCI, or Drum Corps International, is a non-profit that supports numerous programs around the globe while sanctioning participating recognized drum corps, SoundSport® performance ensembles and DrumLine Battle™ teams performing in nearly a hundred competitive events that make up the annual Drum Corps International Tour. This year, I get to be a part of such an incredible opportunity, but I need your help to get there.
4 years ago, as an 8th grader, I watched the Lake Nona High School Winter Guard team perform at Innovation Middle School. From that moment on I knew I wanted to spin and be a part of the Color Guard crew. I have now been spinning for 3 years, the first year at Lake Nona High School, and now on my 2nd year at Innovation High School. Color guard has shaped me as a person and being a part of an elite corp such as Crossmen would mean an even greater opportunity to not only expand my own skills, but also be a part of something much larger, pushing myself to grow into new heights as part of a team touring the country.
The opportunity to participate in Crossmen does come with some hefty financial responsibilities and this is where I will need your help. I will be flying out to Wichita at the end of May to move in to Bethel College for the summer, where I will spend nearly 3 months training, performing, and traveling the country. Your contributions and donations will help get the supplies I need for the entire summer, in addition to help cover a portion of the cost to become a member. Every little bit helps! I appreciate your consideration and thank you in advance for your donations! Move in Day is May 28th!
Thank you!
