On the evening of November 13, 2025, my niece, Alyssa Jeffrey, was on her way to work at night and hit head-on on a highway south of Lincoln, NE. This was a fatal accident for the driver of the other car and Alyssa was miraculously spared. Alyssa is caring, gracious, eager to help, creative, humble, generous of spirit and deeply loved by her family and friends.
We are overwhelmed by the scope of her injuries and long road to recovery, but we also know that there is a more devastating outcome that could have occurred if not for the quick thinking and selfless actions of other drivers who found the accident and jumped in to help. She was airlifted to the hospital where she received life-saving measures with uncertainty of her recovery. Against all odds, Alyssa has defied expectations following multiple surgeries and is progressing well. She will have several more surgeries to come. She is in the ICU and will remain at this level of care for a bit longer but then will have a long road of surgeries, therapies and need for ongoing care. Alyssa is awake and writing words of love and graciousness to her family and care staff at the hospital. Everyone, including her doctors, nurses, and anyone else with knowledge of her accident and injuries have all expressed awe at her recovery and determination.
If you would like to help support Alyssa on her path to healing, a donation can be made to GoFundMe and all proceeds will go to cover the costs of her medical and household expenses.
