On the morning of Friday, March 29th, Alyssa and her 2 year old son, Josh, were involved in a horrific car accident. A dump truck collided with their SUV causing them to spin out several times; they hit telephone poles and power lines in the process. They were immediately brought to Strong hospital for emergency care. Alyssa suffered multiple face fractures including both eye sockets, nose fracture and jaw line fracture. The swelling from her jaw created pressure on her arteries and she then needed an angiogram to resolve the pressure. She received 15 stitches to her mouth and has limited ability to open her jaw. In addition to her facial injuries, Alyssa dislocated her wrist and has significant bruising and muscular tightness throughout her body.
Baby Josh has suffered from two skull fractures, one behind his ear and another along his cheek bone. He had over 15 stitches to his face as a good amount of glass embedded into his skin during the accident. Along with bruising throughout his body, he has swelling to his knee.
As you can imagine, the car is totaled. Alyssa will be out of work for a while as she works to recover. The two are lucky to be alive but have a long road of recovery ahead of them.
When tragedy like this occurs, the physical aspect is just the beginning. A new car is needed and assistance with bills since she will be out of work.
We are asking for kind words, thoughts and prayers and monetary donations to help them get back on their feet. All donations are appreciated.
