The sudden and unexpected loss of Alyssa has left her husband, Travis and two sons heartbroken. Alyssa worked very hard for her family and in addition to coping with this loss they are facing mounting bills and an overwhelm of upcoming expenses.

Travis has had to take the next few months off work to provide more dedicated care and support to their two sons while they navigate the loss of their mom. As many of you know, financial stress can be especially challenging at an already difficult time such as this. They have gone from a two-income household to no income and legal, memorial and counselling fees are stacking up upon their existing daily expenses like mortgage, utilities, food and car payments. In addition, their youngest son Isaac requires specialized care and medical support due to his Autism and related health challenges, which has its own financial reality.

Alyssa unexpectedly collapsed in her home on Monday, June 26th and was rushed to the emergency thanks to the bravery and quick thinking of her son Austin and Uncle James. We soon learned it was due to a Pulmonary Embolism, which then caused Alyssa to go into cardiac arrest. Her family and close friends surrounded her and supported one another through a very long and difficult week while the expert medical team at Victoria General Hospital worked tirelessly to care for her. Ultimately the lack of oxygen to her brain resulted in severe brain damage and on Tuesday, July 4th we said goodbye to our loving, generous and beautiful mom, wife, daughter, granddaughter, sister and friend. Alyssa passed away peacefully with people she loved at her side. She will be missed deeply by her two sons, Austin (11), Isaac (8) and her husband, Travis. As well as her parents, siblings, friends and all who knew and loved her.

We are shocked by this great and unexpected loss and have received many offers of support and questions on how best to help. We are so grateful to everyone who has reached out and supported us all through this time, thank you.
