Support Alyssa: Facing Alex's Sudden Loss

Alex Wechter and his fiancé, Alyssa, built a life in Long Beach, California. They rescued two cats, Arya and Meeko, and Reggie their dog.

On December 10, 2023, Alex unexpectedly passed away.

Alex loved Alyssa deeply. He would never want to leave Alyssa in a position where she could not afford to live.

With Alex's sudden passing, Alyssa is dealing with processing the painful loss of her partner and all that she witnessed that evening.

Alex was the primary earner, and Alyssa is having to figure out how to continue to financially survive with their shared bills. as well as find therapy to help her grieve and help her process all that she witnessed.

Her current medical insurance does not cover the type of care she needs, which means she’ll need to pay out of pocket. Out of pocket costs range anywhere from $150- $400 a session.

Alex & Alyssa’s love story:

Alyssa and Alex met 10 years ago in Brentwood, California when they were 20 years old. They both attended the same college, and they both earned their associates degrees.

 

After 2 years Alex moved and began his studies at CSU Long Beach and Alyssa stayed in the Bay Area attending San Francisco State University. The two loved from afar, often driving to and from northern and southern California to see each other.

 

After finishing her Bachelors, Alyssa moved to Long Beach to live with and help support Alex while he pursued his masters degree in Anthropology.

In February 2023, they moved into a 1 bedroom apartment alone without roommates. Life was really coming together for these two and they both were the happiest they had ever been. Together they were living and loving their life.
