This is my childhood best friend, Alysia. Recently, she was in a terrible motorcycle accident. She broke her collarbone and needed surgery, which will be keeping her out of work for two months.

While she was in the hospital, scans revealed something even more serious — a large mass that takes up nearly 80% of her abdomen. It stretches from her pelvis to her rib area, pushing her intestines upward and completely covering her uterus. In two weeks, she will undergo an exploratory surgery to learn more.

This is a frightening and uncertain time, yet Alysia has stayed positive and focused on the bright side. That’s just who she is — one of the most selfless people I know and a light in so many lives. She’s the kind of person who would give you her last $5 if you needed it, expecting nothing in return.
