Friends and family,

As many of you know, I was unexpectedly diagnosed with Stage IIIa breast cancer in April of 2025. What started as a regular day in early April, ended in fear of the unknown after finding a lump during a self exam. Thankfully, my doctor was able to get me in the following week and I was then sent for scans, followed by a biopsy. April 28, 2025, is the day that would change my life forever, as it marks the day I received confirmation that I had Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. The following weeks are a blur of pokes, prods, scans, specialist visits, etc. May 29, 2025, I went in for surgery, which was successful with good margins. However, the news was not great as I was told I was now considered Stage IIIa (my largest tumor was over 5 cm AND I had two positive lymph nodes). This added more depth to my treatment plan. I now needed 5 months of chemo, 28 days of radiation, and 5-10+ years of medication management to prevent recurrence.

Since finishing active treatment I have been placed on two hormone suppressant treatments. I have also been told I will now be taking a third medication which further prevents recurrence and lowers recurrence rate by up to 28% (heck yeah!!). The cost of these medications monthly is an ongoing expense and battle with insurance for whether or not they will cover it fully, at all, or just a portion for that month.. funny thing is that health insurance seems to think once you’ve beat cancer you no longer need treatment covered? Which has been frustrating to say the least.

I have been extremely lucky that my insurance has covered a large portion of my treatment and care. However, medical bills do continue to trickle in and are continuing to accumulate.

We are raising money to help cover the cost of all current due medical bills as well as any future and ongoing financial needs as it relates to my medical care including future scans, blood work, hormone suppressors (medication management), and the third medication (kisqali). If you have been led to this page, we first want to ask for prayers for not only myself as I continue on my treatment plan but also for my husband and children, who have handled my diagnosis and treatment thus far with bravery and grace. I also ask for prayers for my mother, siblings, my in laws, and all other family and friends that have sat beside me, Joel, and the kids, on the hardest days of our lives. I truly cannot express the extent of my love and gratitude for each and every one of them. Secondly, if you feel led to give, please know that any amount will make a huge difference in alleviating the cost of current and ongoing or future medical bills.
