Support Aly and Gunnar: Sheena Surgery.
Donation protected
Our dear friends Aly and Gunnar have had a rocky year and are facing yet another challenge. They told us:
In January, our lil baby bean Sheena developed a lump on her hind leg. When it finally got alarmingly large, we took her to the vet and she was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor. This is likely cancerous and due to its location, is very difficult to operate on. As a result, the low-cost vet refused to do it and our regular vet is nervous as well. Since there isn’t a lot of extra skin to work with, it’s possible they won’t be able to remove all of the tumor cells and it may grow back, requiring multiple surgeries. The only other option is to amputate her leg entirely.
If we remove the mass, it will be $1,800 plus the second surgery to remove more skin after the incision heals. If we do the amputation, it will be at least $2,200 but just a one time surgery. We've already accrued around $250 in vet costs and this has caused both emotional and financial stress for us.
We have offered to raise funds to help alleviate stress and get their baby through surgery and recovery with ease. Every little bit helps, and we so appreciate your support. Please donate what you can and share with your networks!
