My Name is Apriel, and I am Alvin Simms's daughter in Law. His wife Lisa Simms is my husband's mother. A bout a month ago Alvin became ill and went to several Urgent Care clinics because he was short of breath and feeling horrible. He was told he had pneumonia. Days go by and he never got better and finally another urgent care sent him to the Emergency Room at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. While at the hospital Alvin was diagnosed with having a leak in one of his heart valves that drained into his lungs. Alvin was told that he would need emergency open heart surgery or he would not survive. He was then transferred to University of Maryland where he had open heart surgery and his heart valves repaired. He was placed on a ventilator in hopes to calm him and from the severe pain and breathing issues that he endured. This was also to give his heart time to rest. Alvin finally recovered enough to come home.

We are so thankful and grateful that he has made it through this far. Since Alvin was the sole provider of his home, he can no longer work and will have MONTHS of recovery ahead of him. His bills are mounting, and he has NO INCOME coming in to help him or his family from falling behind on their mortgage, etc....
