In 2021, I rescued a feral filly and named her Alula. I raised and trained her myself; she has been with me through everything from major surgeries during my chronic illness to moving across Oregon to my divorce. Things were really looking up for us until I was unexpectedly laid off in October, when my assistant bookstore manager position was eliminated as the company I worked for downsized. I started reluctantly looking at needing to rehome her if I couldn't find work soon.

Then, an incredible opportunity came up: I accepted a job offer to be a bookstore manager in my home state of Minnesota, close to my family and where I was born. I couldn't be more excited to make this move with my partner and start our next chapter, and it would be even better if Alula can come along on this journey.

I have a prospective hauler lined up, but fees are obviously yet another difficult thing to consider given how big this move is for all of us. I'm also ensuring Alula has a comfortable and safe journey with a professional equine transportation rig. Anything we raise will go toward making this move possible so Alula can stay with me.
