The Stockton Bicycle Club is raising funds to help friend and bicycle mechanic extraordinaire Alton Stevens with medical expenses incurred due to a brain abscess that burst on September 23. Emergency responders transported him to Dameron Hospital in Stockton; Dameron immediately transferred him to the intensive care unit (ICU) at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto. Doctors already performed four surgeries, one of which removed part of his skull to make room for brain swelling. He's much more alert and moving more since a tracheostomy on October 8.

His wife Tina and their kids have been by his side throughout this ordeal. Lodging expenses add up quickly as do medical bills. We don't know what the future holds. Insurance pays only a fraction in the grand scheme of things.

Alton is a true friend and phenomenal bike mechanic to many of us. He's honest, fair and has a lot of integrity. Many of us have relied on Alton for more than 20 years to keep our bikes in optimal condition. We trust him.

Please help Alton and Tina defray medical costs. At the very least, please send all of the healing energy and #Positive Vibes you can muster.
