Support Alonzo's Heart Surgery Journey
Donation protected
My dear friend, Miss Mary, shared this with me this evening. It is written by her daughter (Gabby) about her beloved grandson, Alonzo.
“Family and friends, Ashton and I (Gabby) found out yesterday that our son has Congenital Heart Disease and will be needing open-heart surgery. He never showed any signs or symptoms until his 1-year child check. The doctor noticed his heart sounded off and ordered an ECHO, sent it out to St. Joseph's Children's Hospital. Within hours, I was called by the clinic to bring him in immediately. That's when I knew. He has 2 ventricles, meaning 1 is missing, as well as a hole in his heart and a murmur. Monday he has a check-up. Tuesday will be a secondary ECHO, then we will find out more about his surgery date. This does explain why he is so small because he doesn't get the proper nutrients from his heart. Everything is happening so fast, we're trying to keep up.
He is doing well. Active as can be. Crawling and talking up a storm. He eats everything. He is just being himself.
It hurts us that he is unaware of what's going to happen. We have faith in God and ask that our family and friends keep him in your prayers. Thank you to those who have reached out and supported us through this hardship. God is good always.”
After talking with Miss Mary, I decided to go ahead and start a GoFundMe for the family. Gabby has taken a leave of absence from work and Ashton will have to take many days off of work to be with Alonzo at this difficult time. Their greatest wish is that their son is healthy and happy, and they are doing everything possible to make that happen. Now I am asking you, my friends, my family, Gabby’s friends, Gabby’s family, Mary’s friends, Mary’s family, Ashton’s friends, Ashton’s family, as well as whomever this reaches, to please pray for little Alonzo, and if at all possible, donate to his GoFundMe.
