It is with a heavy heart that I am reaching out to the community for support on behalf of my former student Alondra. I have known Alondra for over a decade. I taught her art for several years, during which I came to know her, her family, and her father Ricardo—a kind, generous man and a talented, hardworking chef. Throughout the time I’ve known them, Alondra has faced many hardships, and her father has always been a source of strength. His dedication and encouragement helped her find stability and healing during some of her most difficult moments.

Ricardo’s recent deportation to Mexico has been devastating for their family. It has created both emotional trauma and significant financial hardship. Alondra has always relied on her creativity to process her emotions, heal, and stay grounded. After her father’s deportation, she made the difficult decision to relocate to Los Angeles to be closer to friends and loved ones in his absence, and to continue pursuing her creative dreams.

Alondra is strong, determined, and refusing to give up—but she and her family urgently need help. The funds raised will go directly toward:

Covering the costs of Ricardo’s detainment and bail- which placed a heavy financial burden on the family and was exacerbated by his works refusal to give him his last paycheck when they realized he was being deported

Supporting Alondra’s relocation expenses- including the immediate costs of moving to a new city

Helping her rebuild stability as she navigates this difficult transition
