Hi! We’re María José Del Rio and Sofía Heiras, we’re volunteering in Arusha, Tanzania, at a small school called Almo.

The children here are full of potential, but they are missing some of the most basic things every child should have in order to learn and grow.

The school, led by its dedicated director Anna, does so much with very little. Almo first opened its Baby Class in 2015, and in 2023 it expanded to also include daycare services. Today, it welcomes up to 50 children, ranging from infants to 6 years old. There are hopes to expand further and create specialized facilities to support orphans and children with disabilities.

The teachers and staff work tirelessly each day, but the reality is that they often lack the resources needed to make the most of their efforts. For example, in one classroom of 30 children, there are only 5 pencils to share between them, which disrupts their learning. Even small contributions like writing pencils, coloring supplies, or simple toys can make a huge difference.

The kitchen, where meals are prepared, is also in poor condition and needs improvements so the children can receive safe, nutritious food each day. On top of this, the school struggles to pay the teachers’ salaries, yet their role is absolutely vital.

That’s why we started this fundraiser. With your help, we want to:

Every single contribution will be given directly to the Almo school to support these needs. We will personally make sure that every donation is used transparently and goes directly toward improving the education and daily lives of the children.

¡Hola! Somos María José Del Río y Sofía Heiras, estamos de voluntarias en Arusha, Tanzania, en una escuelita llamada Almo.

Los niños aquí tienen un enorme potencial, pero les faltan muchas cosas básicas que cualquier niño debería tener para poder aprender y crecer.

La escuela, dirigida con muchísimo esfuerzo por Anna, hace maravillas con muy poco. Almo abrió su Baby Class en 2015 y en 2023 se expandió para incluir también una guardería. Hoy recibe a unos 50 niños, desde bebés hasta 6 años. A futuro, quieren crecer más y crear espacios especializados para apoyar a huérfanos y a niños con discapacidades.

Los maestros y el personal trabajan sin parar todos los días, pero la realidad es que muchas veces no tienen los recursos necesarios para aprovechar al máximo su esfuerzo. Por ejemplo, en un salón con 30 niños, solo hay 5 lápices para todos. Eso les complica mucho aprender. Donaciones tan simples como lápices, colores o juguetes pueden marcar una gran diferencia.

La cocina donde se preparan los alimentos también está en malas condiciones y necesita arreglos para que los niños puedan recibir comida segura y nutritiva todos los días. Además, a la escuela se le dificulta pagar los sueldos de los maestros, aunque su trabajo es indispensable.

Por eso abrimos esta colecta. Con su ayuda queremos:

Arreglar y mejorar la cocina

Conseguir útiles básicos: cuadernos, lápices, plumas, crayolas, libros, gomas, gis y más

Apoyar los sueldos de los maestros

Ofrecer juguetes y materiales sencillos que faciliten el aprendizaje

Cada aportación será entregada directamente a la escuela Almo para cubrir estas necesidades. Nosotras mismas nos encargaremos de que cada donación se use de manera transparente y vaya directo a mejorar la educación y el día a día de los niños.

Cada ayuda, grande o pequeña, hace la diferencia. Estos niños merecen la oportunidad de una buena educación y, con su apoyo, podemos hacerla posible.
