If you know Allyson, you know how hardworking, reliable, and caring she is in everything she does — whether it’s through her job delivering our mail through weather and the occasional anaconda, being a mom to her beautiful children both two and four-legged, or simply showing up for the people around her in our community. Recently, Allyson was in a car accident that left her with a painful leg injury and an unknown recovery ahead.

The impact caused airbags to deploy, and her right leg took the force of a below-the-dash airbag from just inches away. This led to severe swelling and concern for a dangerous condition called compartment syndrome, leading to an emergency helicopter ride to the city for evaluation. Thankfully, it wasn’t that (by the grace of God, it isn’t broken either ) — but the injury has still been incredibly painful and has left her unable to work for the unforeseen future.

Even with both auto and health insurance, Allyson faces medical deductibles, copays, and now the challenge of replacing her car — and the reality that her sick leave will not last forever. Anyone who knows her knows she’s not someone who asks for help easily, but this situation would put a financial strain on anyone.
