Hi. My name is Maria and I created this GoFundMe for an old childhood friend of mine, Dawn, and her family. Our fathers worked at the same company, Joslyn Mfg, and our families were good friends.

Dawn and her husband, Tom, are also in a world similar to mine, and that is the world of autism. Her daughter, Ally, is on the spectrum, is very similar to Grayson, being non-verbal, a few years older, and who will also never lead an independent life. Last November, Ally had a seizure and there was one thing after another since then. An MRI found a mass in her brain. 80 to 90 percent of the mass was removed this past Thursday. They will have to wait 2 weeks for the biopsy results, and in the meantime, Ally will have to be in a rehab facility due to loss of mobility on her left side. Having any child in this situation is difficult, but it's exponential when they can't communicate. Dawn will have to use all available sick and vacation time, and then unpaid leave, and the income her husband gets for caregiving is paused while Ally is outside of the home for care.
