## Help Ashley “Ally” Hernandez Fight for Her Life – Urgent Liver Surgery Needed

Hi, my name is katherine chilel ramirez , and I’m a single mom doing everything I can to care for my two daughters—my youngest is 12, and my oldest, **Ashley “Ally” Hernandez**, is just 19.
She should be living her best life—chasing dreams, going to school, and being her funny, kind, beautiful self. Instead, she’s fighting for her life.
### A Rare Medical Crisis That Started on May 12th
On **May 12th**—Mother’s Day—Ally began **throwing up blood**. We rushed to the ER, and she was taken in for **emergency gallbladder surgery**. At first, we thought things would improve… but just a week later, everything spiraled.
She suffered a **rare and life-threatening bile duct injury**, something that only occurs in a small percentage of surgeries. Bile leaked into her body and caused **severe liver damage**. Her organs started to shut down. She spiked a **109° fever**, her heart rate hit **160 bpm**, and she was placed in the **ICU**, where she stayed for over **six weeks**.
Now, doctors say she needs **open liver surgery** to remove **60% of her liver**. If she doesn’t get this surgery, her **kidneys could begin to fail**, and we may lose her.

### ⚠️ What She’s Facing Now
Ally currently has a **bile stent** in place that drains excess bile. But every time it drains, she also loses **critical fluids and nutrients**—causing:
* **Severe dehydration**
* **Rapid weight loss**
* **Hair loss**
* **Constant fatigue and weakness**
Even simple daily tasks are getting harder. But Ally is still holding on—and still fighting.

Ally is more than a patient—she’s one of the kindest souls I’ve ever known.
She attended **Summerour Middle School (2017–2020)** and **Paul Duke High School (2024–2025)**
She dreams of becoming a **Child Life Specialist** to help other kids through medical trauma
She handmakes **bracelets** for nurses, cleaning staff, and other patients just to lift spirits
She’s rescued animals, fed strangers in need, and given her shoes to the homeless
She’s passionate about **theater**, **sports**, and making people smile—especially her little sister
