It seems to be a universal truth that the individuals who are most giving, most likely to help others, and most deserving of aid are unlikely to reach out when they are in need. We have reached this moment with one of my best friends, Ally Rogers. Ally is a tough, hardworking woman who is honest and no-nonsense, and– one of her best qualities– will do anything for one of her people. She is loyal and giving, and never, ever asks for anything in return, and would never ask for help outright.
The last few months have been a rollercoaster for Ally, as she has been investigating some health concerns. And, finally, she has some answers, but she needs some assistance. Ally has a mass in her colon, graded stage two/borderline three. It has not metastasized out of the colon, which is great news, but it has nearly pushed through the colon wall. The Tumor Board has decided on a course of action: radiation therapy followed by several months of chemotherapy, and then surgery to remove the mass.
Ally, as a self-employed horse trainer, has not been able to find affordable health insurance, and now is unable to find any insurance company, affordable or not, who is willing to offer coverage. Ally has been attempting to get financial aid, but without luck so far. The treatment cost is estimated at anywhere from $25,000- $50,000.
If we can band together to help one of our own, we can help provide Ally with the resources she needs to focus on recovery. Any help is appreciated, large or small.
