Support Allison's Battle Against Cancer

UPDATE***
We got some very bad news from her scans. It shows not only the mass on her voice box (larynx) but also involves the majority of the lymph nodes in her neck as well as a spot on the right side of her jaw inside her mouth. The surgery would be about 20 hours and her doctor doesn’t think she will survive the surgery. The options are limited. We need all the help we can get because worst case scenario is unfortunately more present than it was before. She is distraught. I am heartbroken and very numb. The thought of the costs of what we are going to endure is absolutely going to break us and I would appreciate anything

My mom, Allison, just got a very life changing diagnosis. She has a laryngeal mass that was confirmed as a reoccurrence of cancer. Eight years ago she had tonsillar cancer, received radiation, and got a clean bill of health. The radiation over time caused what was called osteonecrosis of her jaw. This caused her to lose all of her teeth and that beautiful smile of hers. She has been having a hard time eating solid food for some time. Early last week she started having a hard time breathing. She finally came to the hospital and went for a CT scan of her neck where it was found that she has a mass on her larynx that was completely blocking her airway. She received a tracheostomy on Thursday August 1st and then a PEG (feeding) tube on Friday August 2nd. She is still in the hospital but going to be discharged home with home health care and lots of costs for medical supplies and doctors visits and a PET scan….then eventually will have to go to Moffitt for a complete laryngectomy (removal of her larynx which is her voice box). I heard my moms voice for the last time before she went back for surgery to get her trach put in. All of this is definitely a life changing experience for my mom and for our family. I know that she has touched so many lives in all of her years on this planet and has been a great friend, save for the last couple years due to her appearance and her being embarrassed about her teeth, and would give anyone anything if she could. Even if she had nothing herself she would always make sure the people she cared about were taken care of and safe. Allison has a very long road ahead of her and hasn’t worked and has been on disability for years now. She needs all the help she can get. I wish I could help more but as everyone knows my daughter has a lot of medical costs herself and Chris and I just don’t have a lot to give. Any help would be greatly appreciated and go towards my moms medical costs for her very lengthy road ahead. Thank you all and keep my mom in your prayers!
